Seamless Wi-Fi Systems
Wireless telecommunication systems are an integral part of the utilities of modern buildings and their planning, creation and support requires participation of a qualified engineer. Correctly arranged Wi-Fi system may function equally with wire communication systems enabling high speed of data transfer and even outperform them due to their mobility allowing the users to move along the facility without loss of communication. Wi-Fi networks may be a good alternative to cellular networks enabling the communication inside the facility where there are no GSM networks.
This tasks may be solved due to “seamless” Wi-Fi network of 802.11ac standard of carrier-class.
General scheme of Wi-Fi arrangement
The core of a seamless Wi-Fi network is a hardware controller enabling centralized control of all connected Wi-Fi equipment.
An example of Wi-Fi controller is Cisco AIR-CT5508-250-K9 Cisco Aironet WI-FI controller of wireless connection for 250 access points.

This enables such possibilities as:
- Load balancing. All active clients are distributed among adjacent Wi-Fi access points, this enables to increase the speed of request processing, optimize the use of resources and improve the quality of client service upon the whole.

- “Seamless” roaming. Terminal device of the user (equipment providing access to the Wi-Fi network) is automatically switched by the system controller between adjacent access points when the client moves along the territory of the facility without of the communication.
- Smart connect technology enables to combine two Wi-Fi networks from one router (in the range of 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz) in one network (with one name) and automatically connect devices to the frequency, where the maximum speed and stable connection will be provided.
For arrangement of the Wi-Fi network inside offices and trade centers, Wi-Fi access points are installed in the premises combined in one network via high end routers. As a rule, Wi-Fi points are installed on the ceiling and in large premises (exhibition halls, showrooms etc.) with a large number of people they may be installed on special supports. This solution enables to move the unit for the increase of the carrying capacity of the zone with a large number of visitors.
Productivity of routers in the network enables to serve up to two thousand users in a real-time mode supporting of more than million sessions at once. Routers may limit the volume (set quotas to the volume) of the passing traffic, enable to control the width of the channel, limit its speed, establish priorities for different type of traffic, as well as to perform authentication for different groups of clients.
To connect a large number of access points to such router uncontrolled multi-port gigabyte switch-boards are used supporting PoE 802.3at.
If it is necessary to arrange a Wi-Fi network on remote territories of the facility, a high speed communication channel is created along the cable line or wireless linkup.
Wireless linkups in a point-to-point mode may provide the data transmission speed of 400-500 Mbit/s to the distance if 4-5 km or longer (but with lower speed). If a longer communication channel is required, retranslators may be used at the data transfer route.
To arrange such communication in the place to which a wireless linkup is routed a base station is installed operating at two frequency ranges: 2.4 kHz and 5 GHz. The frequency of 5 GHz is used in this case for arrangement of a transit communication channel and the frequency of 2.4 GHz is used for the access of Clients located in the area of the base station coverage to the Wi-Fi network of the facility.
For larger coverage of the territory around the base station additional access points are connected to it with power supply according to Power over Ethernet (PoE) technology enabling the receipt and transfer of information between the base station and the equipment of Clients.
