TV Community Reception System
TV Community Reception Systems (TVCRS) are designed for receiving signals of terrestrial, cable and satellite television and audio channels, their converting and transfer along the cable lines to user terminals.
TV Community Reception Systems are comprised of hardware units, the content and technical capability of which are determined depending on the requirements to the system, radio frequency cables serving an environment for the transfer of information between system elements and user terminals (receivers, TV receivers).
The TVCRS comprises:
-
antennas or antenna complexes;
-
a head-end station and multi-switches;
-
main and house intensifies;
-
modulators;
-
splitters and coupling units;
-
cables, connection sockets and subscriber outlets.
Receive antenna and antenna complexes are designed for receiving TV and radio signals from the transmitting centers and providers. The transmitting TV programs may be implemented from ground receive antennas in meter and decimeter range, as well as satellites located at the geostationary Earth orbit. In the first case receive antennas of meter and decimeter range are installed at the facility, in the second case receive satellite plates are installed. They may be simultaneous receiving of terrestrial and satellite TV. The quantity and type of receive antennas, as well as the place and ways of their fixation are determined at the stage of the system designing.
Head-end station is used, as a rule, in large systems, with a large number of receive antennas and users. At the input of the head-end station signals are delivered from receive antennas of the facility and from the cable television network and/or Internet network. The functionality of the head-end station depends on its package and is determined by the Terms of Reference and may provide as follows:
-
receiving of terrestrial, satellite and cable TV programs;
-
automatic gain control of input signals of different power to one level at the output of the head-end station;
-
distribution of input television and radio programs according to the frequency range of internal home network;
-
decoding/coding (scrambling) of satellite and cable TV programs;
-
adding to the broadcast network of video and sound signals from the facility devices (for example, video cameras) - modulation;
-
editing of the input content (for example, inserting publicity).
Base unit (chassis) of the WISI OH head-end station for 50 and 14 modules with installed modules.
Multi-switches are used in the medium and small TVCRS and have a matrix structure of television signals transfer from receive antennas to final users. The different of matrix transfer of data from the classical one is that signals of home distribution network are transferred along not one, but several cables, i.e. signal from several receiving antennas are not mixed. User line of a multi-switch to terminal unit is made of one cable and, when switching the receiver to the necessary channel frequency, a multi-switch automatically switches the user line to a corresponding distribution one.
Examples of a single-cable system with a head-end station and a matrix system with the use of multi-switches.
In case of a matrix system, depending on the number of connected users, passive transmission type multi-switches are installed. If it is necessary to intensify a TV channel, active multi-switches with an intensifying function are installed at the floor.
Passive WISI DY 0508 multi-switch
Also, if the level of signal is close to the minimum permissible, it is possible to install a TV-channel intensifier. In case of a single-cable system with a low signal level a wide-band intensifier is installed.
4хSAT intensifier with remote power supply via SAT receiver or external battery.
Modulators are used to be added in a distribution network of the TVCRS from external systems of the facility, for example, analogue and IP video cameras. When using this device, a signal from the external source is modulated on the selected frequency and is broadcasted on a TV-receiver of the user at one of TV channels.
Splitters are used to integrate TV-signals from two external sources of different frequency ranges and to transmit them to the receiver via one cable. Splitters are used to distribute TV signals to several receive devices.
ST Solution LLC specialists have an experience in designing, mounting and updating of TVCRS on the equipment of such producers, as WISI, LANS, Terra, Vector, PLANAR and others.
